How subscribers sync to Shopify Customers automatically
When a visitor signs up through your 1ClickPopup campaign, their information is automatically added to your Shopify Customers list. No setup needed - this works on all plans, including the Always Free plan.
How it works
Every time someone submits their email through your popup, 1ClickPopup:
- Creates or updates a customer record in your Shopify Customers list
- Tags the customer with
1clickpopup-{campaign_id}(e.g.,1clickpopup-1234) so you can see which campaign captured them - Syncs additional data if collected – phone number, name, birthday, and any custom field values
This happens automatically in real time. You don't need to configure anything.
How to view subscribers from a specific campaign
- Go to the Campaigns page
- Click the Actions menu (blue link) next to your campaign
- Select View subscribers
This opens Shopify Customers pre-filtered by your campaign's tag, showing you everyone who signed up through that specific campaign - with their live, up-to-date subscription status directly from Shopify.
Why Shopify Customers is the source of truth
Shopify Customers shows the current status of each subscriber - whether they're subscribed, unsubscribed, or have updated their information. This is always more accurate than any snapshot taken at the time of signup.
What about premium integrations?
The Shopify sync works on all plans. If you're on a paid plan and have connected a premium integration like Klaviyo or Mailchimp, subscribers are synced to those platforms in addition to Shopify Customers - not instead of.
For integration-specific setup, see:

Things to know
Tagging is automatic. Every subscriber is tagged with the campaign ID. You can use these tags in Shopify to build customer segments, create email campaigns, or track which popups drive the most signups.
Duplicate subscribers are handled. If a visitor signs up through multiple campaigns, their Shopify customer record is updated (not duplicated) and they receive tags from each campaign.
Double opt-in affects timing. If you have double opt-in enabled, the subscriber is synced to Shopify only after they click the confirmation link in the verification email.
