How to choose a campaign type and template
When you create a new campaign, the first step is choosing a campaign type and a template. The campaign type determines how and where your popup appears. The template gives you a starting design that you can fully customize.
Campaign types
On the Select template page, you'll see a list of campaign types on the left:
Opt-in popup – The most common type. A popup overlay that captures email addresses (and optionally phone numbers, names, or other fields). Best for growing your email list and offering discounts in exchange for signups.
Opt-in embedded – An inline form that sits directly on your page, embedded within your store's content. Use this when you want a signup form that's always visible without overlaying the page.
Announcement popup – Displays a message with a CTA button but no form fields. Use it for promotions, store announcements, or directing visitors to a specific page. Since it doesn't collect signups, only Shopify and Google Analytics 4 are available as integrations.
Exit & cart saver popup – Triggers when a visitor is about to leave your store. Designed to capture emails or recover abandoned carts with a last-chance offer.
Gamified popup – Interactive widgets that make signups fun. Includes three styles: Spin-to-Win (wheel spin), Turntable (teal wheel), and Nine-Square (3×3 grid). Visitors enter their email to play and can win discounts or other rewards.
Choosing a template
After selecting a campaign type, the page shows all available templates for that type. Each template is a starting point – you can fully customize the text, images, colors, form fields, and design after selecting it.
Template names describe the goal (e.g., "Email capture," "Email + name capture," "Email + SMS capture"). Choose the one closest to what you want to collect, then customize it in the editor.
Creating the campaign
- Click a template to select it
- Enter a campaign name – this is internal only, your visitors won't see it
- Click Create campaign to open the editor
If you leave the name blank, the template name is used as the default (e.g., "Email capture"). You can rename your campaign anytime from the Campaigns page via Actions → Rename.
Things to know
Opt-in popup is pre-selected by default. This is the most common type. If you want a different type, select it from the list before choosing a template.
The campaign type can't be changed after creation. If you picked the wrong type, create a new campaign with the correct type and delete the old one.
Templates are fully customizable. Don't worry about finding the "perfect" template – any template can be redesigned to match your brand in the editor.
